Go with the Flow: weekend and other stuff

Nädalavahetus möödus kiiresti ning üsnagi koduselt. Käisime mõlemad päevad linnas asju ajamas, kuid kahjuks on kõik tähtsad asjaajamised meil raskendatud tänu sellele, et me pole veel registreerunud end linna munitsipaalametis. Järjekord on hetkel üle kuu aja, kuid me peaks saama selle asja aetud 25. Septembril. Peale seda saame avada kohalikud pangakontod, mis samuti tähendab, et saame kohalikud telefoninumbrid ning INTERNETI! (Naabrite wifi varastamine on siiski kole tegevus + antud signaal paistab päev-päevalt nõrgemaks jäävat... )

Haagi linnaga on mul väga imelik suhe veel siiani. Ma ei orienteeru selles kesklinnas mitte üldse! Ausõna, mul blondiini tunne seal kesklinnas viibides, ei saa üldse aru, kuhu poole jääb kool või rongijaam. Kesklinnast koju oskan enam-vähem tulla, see õnneks lihtne tegevus (enam-vähem sirge).

Rattaga kesklinnas sõitmine on ka jälle omaette tsirkus! Hea, et ellu jääd (sellised on mu mõtted ratta seljas). Asjale ei aita kaasa fakt, et siin riigis on rollerid võrdväärsed ratastega. Jalgratateedel kimavad rolleri-inimesed sinust pidevalt mööda, väga lollitada ei tasu sõites- muidu saad veel rollerilt löögi. Ratta parkimine on võrreldav Tallinna kesklinnas reede õhtuti tasuta parkimiskoha otsimisega. Ma ei taha midagi halvasti öelda, mulle meeldib see rataste elu (ühistranspordile kulus meil kahe päeva jooksul 8€, seega väga otstarbekas liiklusvahend see ratas), kuid lihtsalt üleüldine ratastega liiklemine vajab harjumist.

The weekend passed quickly and we mostly stayed at home. Went to the city centre twice to deal with some important things but it isn’t that easy at the moment. The problem is that we haven’t registered ourselves in the City Hall yet (the queue is for over a month) but we should be able to do it on the 25^th of September. After that we can open Dutch bank account, which also means that we can get ourselves Dutch phone numbers and INTERNET! (Stealing our neighbours’ wifi isn’t very nice + the signal gets worse day by day...)

The city of The Hague is kind of making me nervous. I feel so lost in the city centre! Seriously, I feel like a blonde silly girl while being in the centre because I can’t understand where the school or the train station is. I do manage to get back home from the centre, luckily it’s easy.

Riding a bike in the city centre is so weird! Good to survive (these are my thoughts while being on a bike). The people who are driving with the scooters do not make it any easier as in The Netherlands they have the same rights as the cyclist do. The scooters pass you all the time on the cycling roads and it’s better to be careful rather than to get a hit from a scooter. Parking bikes can be compared with looking a free parking spot in Tallinn at Friday nights. I don’t want to say anything bad, I do like this bike-lifestyle here (using public transport in The Hague for two days cost me 8€, therefore bikes are very useful) but it just takes time to get used to the traffic here.

Kesklinna tänavakesed (kusjuures, meenutavad veidi Inglismaa linnakesi- näiteks Crawley't)

Eile linnas viibides avastasime juhuslikult mingisuguse ürituse. Seal oli suur laat ning igasugused välitelgid, mis (nii palju kui ma aru sain) reklaamisid erinevaid teatrigruppe. Vanakraamiturg oli see-eest lahe, kuid kahjuks õnnestus mul jälle kaamera maha jätta. Paar pilti sai René iPhonega jäädvustatud. Antud turul müüdi pigem antiik asju, ehk lauahõbedat ning ilusaid veinikorke, mille hinnad olid ligikaudu 60€. Huvitavaid fotomaterjali oleks seal küllalt olnud...

Yesterday while being in the city with René we accidentally found one event which was going on. There was a big antique market and a lot of tents representing different theatre shows etc (if I understood correctly). The antique market was cool but of course I managed to leave my camera home (but managed to take few photos with René’s iPhone)

Uue pesumasina sain ka nädalavahetusel ära katsetatud. Ei lasknud vett kuskilt läbi ning riided said pestud. Seega võib öelda, et paigaldamine õnnestus edukalt. Selles suhtes, et elu on ilus (ja riided puhtad).

Üks kurb uudis on ka muidugi- 6.septembril, ehk neljapäeval, on Haagis COLDPLAY (soojendus on Marina and the Diamonds) kontsert. Kurb on see uudis sellepärast, et piletid algavad 60€-st ning mul pole seda raha hetkel...

Sellel nädalal on koolis veel sissejuhatavad loengud. Lisaks saame Photoshopi kasutamise algkursuse. Täna oli esimene tund, veidi sain targemaks- kuid selle ajaga just väga palju ei omandanud. Eks näeb, kolmapäeval ja neljapäeval on veel. Reedel on siis ametlik semestri avamine ning järgmise nädala esmaspäevast saab hakata järjekordselt loengutes ja seminarides käima! Sellest räägin siis teinekord lähemalt!

Also, I tried out our new washing machine during the weekend. The machine worked fine and all the water stayed where it has to stay. So could say that the installation went fine. And I mean, life is good (and the clothes are clean).

Oh, and sad news too- on the 6^th of September, this Thursday, COLDPLAY is in The Hague (together with Marina and the Diamonds). This is sad because the tickets start from 60€ and atm I don’t have that money...

This week we still have the introduction lessons at uni. Also we are having a Photoshop basic lessons. Today had our first Photoshop lesson, I learnt few basic things but not much. On Wednesday and Thursday also have few lessons. On Friday we have an official kick-off for this semester and the lectures start on Monday. But I will talk about more our lectures and seminars later on! :)
